Daniel, Robert, Juliette, and Peter have played in a string quartet for 25 years. Peter finds out that he’s in the early stages of Parkinson’s so he decides the next performance will be his last. Robert and Juliette are married but having some trouble — they also have a daughter, Alex,\u00a0who’s taking some music lessons from Daniel. Juliette thinks that if Peter quits she might quit too.<\/p>\n

A Late Quartet<\/strong> was released in 2012.<\/p>\n

The last\u00a0six string quartets by Beethoven are known as the “late quartets.”<\/p>\n

You feel that there’s a lot of history among the members of the quartet.<\/p>\n

You don’t have to have a particular interest in music to enjoy this movie. It’s about the relationships among the characters.<\/p>\n

The soundtrack features classical music by Beethoven, Bach, Strauss, and Haydn.<\/p>\n

Christopher Walken (Blast From the Past<\/strong>) plays Peter.\u00a0Philip Seymour Hoffman (Mary and Max<\/strong><\/a>) plays Robert. Catherine Keener (Being John Malkovich<\/strong>) plays Juliette. Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride<\/strong>) has a small part.<\/p>\n

Mark Ivanir (Schindler’s List<\/strong>) plays Daniel. Imogen Poots (Cracks<\/strong>) plays Alex.<\/p>\n
