You see, we value diversity as much as we do the refinements of higher civilization'&#8221; &#8212; Goffen &amp; Kirk<\/p>\n<p><strong>Star Trek: Gods&#8217; Gauntlet<\/strong> by Howard Weinstein, published in 2 issues from Jun. 1991 to Jul. 1991<\/p>\n<p>The Enterprise is en route to Lerik with their ambassador, Goffen. When they arrive they find that the planet is at war, and Goffen has been lying to them. He&#8217;s not really an ambassador &#8212; he just wanted the Federation to help his world. Since Kirk has to beam Goffen down anyway, he decides to go with him to see the prime minister.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about people who think their god is punishing them, and people who think there is a scientific explanation.<\/p>\n<p>The characters seem like themselves. As for the story there&#8217;s nothing really wrong with it &#8212; it just doesn&#8217;t distinguish itself from other similar stories.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve read 5 novels and a bunch of comic books by Weinstein.
