Mr. Fletcher runs a video store, and when he goes away on a trip he leaves Mike in charge. Mike is doing his best to run the store but he’s shocked to find that all of the videos are blank. His not-so-sane friend Jerry was magnetized during an attempt to sabotage the power plant — it was Jerry that erased all the movies, although accidentally. What can they do? They recreate the movies themselves.<\/p>\n
Be Kind Rewind<\/strong> was released in 2008.<\/p>\n This movie starts a bit slowly but when they start recreating Ghostbusters<\/strong> it gets pretty funny. I expected it to stay funny but it didn’t really. There were some clever bits when they were recreating movies, such as 2001: A Space Odyssey<\/strong>, but some of them went by too fast.<\/p>\n You have to suspend your disbelief, but it has its own internal logic — in which all of the characters are crazy.<\/p>\n In addition to being about remaking movies it’s also about honouring a local jazz musician.<\/p>\n The movie is watchable but I expected it to be much better — it’s certainly not anywhere near as brilliant as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The fun music is by Jean-Michel Bernard (The Science of Sleep<\/strong>).<\/p>\n Jack Black (School of Rock<\/strong>) plays Jerry and Mos Def (The Italian Job<\/strong>) plays Mike. Danny Glover (The Color Purple<\/strong>) plays Mr. Fletcher and Mia Farrow (Rosemary’s Baby<\/strong>) plays a customer. Melanie Diaz (Fruitvale Station<\/strong>) plays a random person they ask to be in their movie.<\/p>\n The movie was directed by Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind<\/strong>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" {3.5\/5} “I didn’t sabotage the power plant.
