But if you know where to look, these ruins are full of riches.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s been an apocalypse, and all the humans are dead. 9 is a doll-like creature, somehow given life by a scientist. He finds a small group of creatures like himself, led by 1, who are mostly hiding from a mechanical beast. 9 doesn&#8217;t want to hide, though, he wants to rescue 2 &#8212; who has been captured by the beast. He convinces 5 to go with him, even though 1 forbids them to go.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9<\/strong> was released in 2009. It&#8217;s an animated movie.<\/p>\n<p>The animation is beautiful, in the way that the first part of <strong>WALL-E<\/strong> is beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>The world is a dangerous place, even with all the humans gone. Some machines are left, and the machines don&#8217;t like little creatures.<\/p>\n<p>The creatures are very clever at making things out of the junk that surrounds them. The group led by 1 lives in Notre Dame Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>The setting and characters had potential but the story wasn&#8217;t as interesting as it should have been &#8212; there were too many things that didn&#8217;t make sense and too much time spent on good guys vs. bad guys.<\/p>\n<p>Deborah Lurie (<strong>Imaginary Heroes<\/strong>) composed the music.<\/p>\n<p>Elijah Wood (<strong>The Lord of the Rings<\/strong>) provides the voice of 9. Alan Oppenheimer (Mighty Mouse in the TV show <strong>The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle<\/strong>) provides the voice of the scientist.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Plummer (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/the-sound-of-music\/\"><strong>The Sound of Music<\/strong><\/a>), Martin Landau (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/frankenweenie\/\"><strong>Frankenweenie<\/strong><\/a>), John C. Reilly (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/wreck-it-ralph\/\"><strong>Wreck-It Ralph<\/strong><\/a>), Crispin Glover (<strong>Back to the Future<\/strong>), and Jennifer Connelly (<strong>A Beautiful Mind<\/strong>) also provide voices.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was directed by Shane Acker (animator on <strong>The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King<\/strong>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{3.5\/5} &#8220;Some things in this world are better left where they lie.
