Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert<\/strong> comic strip, has had a blog for five years. I’m not sure exactly how long I’ve been reading it, but I’ve definitely read every post for a number of months. He’s often very funny in the blog, even funnier than in the comic strip. But he also often thinks of extremely clever things — some of them are over the top but many of them might just turn out to be good ideas. I think he’s the most consistently creative person I’ve encountered.<\/p>\n

Right now he’s running for President. That’s right — of the United States. An independent, no experience in politics — there’s no way he could win, right? But he has fantastic ideas — for example, he will have public debates on domestic policy issues in order to determine the best option and inform the electorate. He knows he would need help from people with experience — he would ask Ex-President Bill Clinton to be his adviser. That’s perfect — if you watch any interview with Clinton, you’ll see he knows what’s going on and has good ideas about what to do. So — Adams running for President is a crazy idea, right?<\/p>\n

On the other hand, at some point in the 21st century people are going to realize that we need to do things differently. And people have, to some extent — Congress approval ratings are the lowest since they started doing polls. Rather than wishing for change and voting for someone with 20th century ideas, we really need someone with 21st century ideas. Scott Adams could actually be that someone. I expect that the number of people who read his blog is much less than the general population, but maybe there’s a way he can reach a wider audience. By the way, Ralph Nader would have made a brilliant President too (watch the documentary An Unreasonable Man<\/strong> if you don’t believe me).<\/p>\n
