Punch in late and they dock you. Incoming articles get a voucher, outgoing articles provide a voucher. Move any article without a voucher and they dock you. Letter size a green voucher, oversize a yellow voucher, parcel size a maroon voucher. Wrong colour voucher and they dock you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s 1958 and Norville has just graduated from business school. He has trouble finding a job because they all require experience. He finally finds a job working in the mail room at Hudsucker Industries. But Mr. Hudsucker has just thrown himself out of a 45th floor window and the board is looking for a proxy, someone they can control, to be the new president. They select Norville.<\/p>\n<p>The board wants their stock price to go down so they can buy it all up. Norville has his own plan, but will it be successful?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Hudsucker Proxy<\/strong> was released in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>The world of the movie is a bit zany at times.<\/p>\n<p>The scene in the mail room (a sample is the quotation above) reminds me of <strong>Brazil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Robbins is suitably naive and Paul Newman is suitably dastardly.<\/p>\n<p>I liked it a lot, although it&#8217;s perhaps not quite as great as <strong>Fargo<\/strong> and <strong>The Big Lebowski<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s some familiar music, and the fun original music is by Carter Burwell (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/true-grit\/\"><strong>True Grit<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Tim Robbins (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/mystic-river\/\"><strong>Mystic River<\/strong><\/a>) plays Norville. Paul Newman (<strong>The Sting<\/strong>) plays an executive at Hudsucker, Charles Durning (<strong>The Sting<\/strong>) plays Mr. Hudsucker, and Bill Cobbs (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/get-low\/\"><strong>Get Low<\/strong><\/a>) plays the mysterious Moses. Jennifer Jason Leigh (<strong>eXistenZ<\/strong>) plays a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, Bruce Campbell (the TV show<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/burn-notice-season-1\/\"><strong> Burn Notice<\/strong><\/a>) plays a colleague, and John Mahoney\u00a0(the TV show <strong>Frasier<\/strong>) plays their boss.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was directed by Joel and Ethan Coen (<strong>True Grit<\/strong>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{4.5\/5} &#8220;You punch in at 8:30 every morning, except you punch in at 7:30 following a business holiday, unless it&#8217;s a Monday, then you punch in at 8 o&#8217;clock.
