You in or you out?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cal is shocked when Emily, his wife of 25 years, tells him when they&#8217;re out for dinner one night that she wants a divorce. He starts frequenting a bar and one day Jacob, one of the other regular patrons of the bar, decides he&#8217;s going to help Cal get his groove back. He gets a new hair cut, new clothes, and eventually a new attitude.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Robbie, Cal and Emily&#8217;s son, is in love with Jessica, his babysitter. And Jessica is in love with Cal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crazy, Stupid, Love.<\/strong> was released in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s absolutely brilliant. There are serious moments but it&#8217;s very funny &#8212; and occasionally screamingly funny.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about fighting for your soulmate.<\/p>\n<p>The confusion about who&#8217;s related to whom and who loves whom near the end is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/much-ado-about-nothing\/\">Shakespearean<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Carell is amazing as always, and he has a fabulous cast around him.<\/p>\n<p>The fun music is by Christophe Beck (the TV show <strong>Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/strong>) and\u00a0 Nick Urata (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/ruby-sparks\/\"><strong>Ruby Sparks<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Steve Carell (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/horton-hears-a-who\/\"><strong>Horton Hears a Who!<\/strong><\/a>) plays Cal and Julianne Moore (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/don-jon\/\"><strong>Don Jon<\/strong><\/a>) plays Emily. Ryan Gosling (<strong>Lars and the Real Girl<\/strong>) plays Jacob and Marisa Tomei (<strong>My Cousin Vinny<\/strong>) plays Kate.<\/p>\n<p>Joey King (<strong>Ramona and Beezus<\/strong>) plays Molly and Jonah Bobo (<strong>Zathura<\/strong>) plays Robbie. Analeigh Tipton (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/warm-bodies\/\"><strong>Warm Bodies<\/strong><\/a>) plays Jessica.\u00a0Emma Stone (<strong>The Amazing Spider-Man<\/strong>) and Kevin Bacon (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/mystic-river\/\"><strong>Mystic River<\/strong><\/a>) also have roles.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (also co-directors of\u00a0<strong>I Love You Phillip Morris<\/strong>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{5\/5} &#8220;I&#8217;m going to help you rediscover your manhood.
