When Daisy goes to England to stay with her cousins for the summer, war breaks out. As an American citizen she gets a ticket home &#8212; but she decides to stay with her cousins. Then they&#8217;re forced to evacuate, and the girls are separated from the boys. How will they find each other again?<\/p>\n<p><strong>How I Live Now<\/strong> was released in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>You can count on Saoirse Ronan to give a tremendous performance, and she does.<\/p>\n<p>The story is from Daisy&#8217;s point of view. We see what happens to her, but we don&#8217;t see what happens to the boys or what happens in the larger world.<\/p>\n<p>Some parts are fairly serious.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not really a movie about war. It&#8217;s about young love, growing up, and doing what it takes to survive &#8212; I liked it a lot.<\/p>\n<p>The gentle music is by Jon Hopkins (<strong>Monsters<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Saoirse Ronan (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/byzantium\/\"><strong>Byzantium<\/strong><\/a>) plays Daisy.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was directed by Kevin Macdonald (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/state-of-play\/\"><strong>State of Play<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{4.5\/5} &#8220;Mom&#8217;s in Switzerland.
