{"id":5135,"date":"2014-06-18T17:42:28","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T21:42:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/?p=5135"},"modified":"2014-06-18T18:16:31","modified_gmt":"2014-06-18T22:16:31","slug":"fringe-season-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/fringe-season-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Fringe (season 1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{5\/5} &#8220;The advances of science &#8212; which is supposed to expand our knowledge of the universe &#8212; will, if not carefully controlled, destroy the world as we know it&#8230; Our technological ambitions have not only driven us to the brink of catastrophe, the catastrophe has already begun.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>FBI Agent Olivia Dunham joins the Fringe Division, investigating mysterious occurrences that may have some connection to something called &#8220;the pattern.&#8221; She works with Walter Bishop, a scientist who did some questionable experiments years ago and who&#8217;s been in a mental institution for 17 years. Walter&#8217;s son Peter, who&#8217;s a genius and knows about a lot of things, tries to keep his father on track.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fringe<\/strong> season 1 originally aired in 2008-09.<\/p>\n<p>I was hooked from the first episode. It&#8217;s a very exciting show &#8212; every episode will have you on the edge of your seat. In fact, if there&#8217;s a TV show that&#8217;s more exciting than this one I don&#8217;t know what it is.<\/p>\n<p>The show is reminiscent of <strong>The X-Files<\/strong>, but only in a general way &#8212; the characters and situations are different.<\/p>\n<p>A few episodes are a bit gruesome.<\/p>\n<p>Other than that\u00a0I loved it &#8212; the individual storylines were interesting and the ongoing story was fascinating. I&#8217;m glad I don&#8217;t have to wait to watch season 2.<\/p>\n<p>The music is exciting and interesting. The credits list the composer as Michael Giacchino (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/star-trek-into-darkness\/\">Star Trek Into Darkness<\/a><\/strong>) but apparently after the first episode the music was written by his associates Chad Seiter (<strong>Chapman<\/strong>) and Chris Tilton (the TV show <strong>Alcatraz<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Anna Torv (the TV show <strong>The Secret Life of Us<\/strong>) plays Olivia. John Noble (<strong>The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King<\/strong>) plays Walter and Joshua Jackson (the TV show <strong>Dawson&#8217;s Creek<\/strong>) plays Peter.<\/p>\n<p>Lance Reddick (guest star on the TV show <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/lost-season-1\/\"><strong>Lost<\/strong><\/a>) plays Broyles and Kirk Acevedo (<strong>Dinner Rush<\/strong>) plays Charlie. Jasika Nicole (<strong>She&#8217;s Out of My League<\/strong>) plays Astrid.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Valley (the TV show <strong>Boston Legal<\/strong>) plays John. Leonard Nimoy (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/star-trek\/\"><strong>Star Trek<\/strong><\/a>) plays William Bell in the season finale.<\/p>\n<p>The show was created by J.J. Abrams (the TV show <strong>Lost<\/strong>), Alex Kurtzman (director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/people-like-us\/\"><strong>People Like Us<\/strong><\/a>), and Roberto Orci (the TV show <strong>Sleepy Hollow<\/strong>).
