The last on the list, Tyrtaeus, proves to be a bit of a chore &#8212; the people aren&#8217;t particularly welcoming to Kirk and his crew. When a giant object is discovered in the system heading for the sun the Tyrtaeans demand to have representatives on board the Enterprise to investigate it. This novel isn&#8217;t bad, just mediocre. Sometimes when the characters speak they don&#8217;t sound like themselves.
