The Lorax<\/strong>, released in 2012<\/p>\n The Once-ler cut down a tree to make a thneed. People loved the thneed and they wanted more. The Lorax spoke for the trees — after speaking with him, the Once-ler promised he wouldn’t cut down any more trees. And technically he didn’t — but his family did. They cut down trees until there were none left. In the new town of Thneedville there was not a single real tree — and young people didn’t even know what they were.<\/p>\n This animated musical is based on the Dr. Seuss story.<\/p>\n It’s message heavy, but it’s a good message — trees (and, by extension, the environment) are important.<\/p>\n It’s very funny — I liked it a lot. The songs are terrific.<\/p>\n Stars the voices of Taylor Swift, Betty White, and Danny DeVito. Directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me 2<\/strong><\/a>) and Kyle Balda (Minions<\/strong><\/a>).
