{"id":9802,"date":"2016-10-30T11:27:35","date_gmt":"2016-10-30T15:27:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/?p=9802"},"modified":"2017-10-12T12:19:52","modified_gmt":"2017-10-12T16:19:52","slug":"kw-symphonys-edwins-final-beethoven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/kw-symphonys-edwins-final-beethoven\/","title":{"rendered":"KW Symphony&#8217;s &#8220;Edwin&#8217;s Final Beethoven&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I attended the KW Symphony&#8217;s performance titled &#8220;Edwin&#8217;s Final Beethoven.&#8221; Edwin Outwater, the symphony&#8217;s director, has conducted all 9 Beethoven symphonies over the last 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the program:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ludwig van Beethoven &#8212; Symphony No. 2 in D major, op. 36<\/li>\n<li>Erich Wolfgang Korngold &#8212; Concerto in D major for Violin &amp; Orchestra, op. 35<\/li>\n<li>Franz Liszt &#8212; Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, C minor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I was familiar with the Beethoven and the Liszt, and it was a pleasure to hear these live. The Korngold was a beautiful piece with many sublime moments.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e9n\u00e9dicte Lauzi\u00e8re was the solo violinist on the Korngold &#8212; she&#8217;s the KW symphony&#8217;s concertmaster.<\/p>\n<p>I noted that Outwater conducted the Beethoven without a score.<\/p>\n<p>Lauzi\u00e8re, Outwater, and the symphony were all shown great enthusiasm by the audience.<\/p>\n<p>I previously reviewed the KW Symphony&#8217;s concert &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2016\/02\/kw-symphonys-scheherazade\/\">Scheherazade<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I attended the KW Symphony&#8217;s performance titled &#8220;Edwin&#8217;s Final Beethoven.&#8221; Edwin Outwater, the symphony&#8217;s director, has conducted all 9 Beethoven symphonies over the last 10 years.
