Futurama (season 6)
{4.5/5} “Lrrr, you lazy ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 8. You said you would conquer a planet today but you have not even shed your skin yet.” — Ndnd
Futurama season 6, aired in 2010-11
The wormhole that the Planet Express ship went through led them back to Earth. Leela and Fry have become a couple. When Kif breaks up with Amy she and Bender start dating — some people, like Amy’s parents, think that robosexuality is evil. Bender discovers that he doesn’t have a backup — when he calls Mom to report that he’s defective she sets out to destroy him.
They tackle important topics like censorship, e-waste proliferation, and social media addiction. But it’s not quite as funny as the 1st 4 seasons.
Scruffy, the janitor, only shows up once in a while but he’s always very funny.
In “A Clockwork Origin” Professor Farnsworth’s nanobots evolve over a few days into robots who don’t believe he was their creator. In “Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences” Lrrr pretends to conquer Earth, with Orson Welles’ help, to impress his wife. In “Law and Oracle” Fry becomes a police officer in the future crimes division and he sees a future where he shoots Bender.
In the season finale, “Reincarnation,” there are stories in 3 different styles — a black and white cartoon from the 1930s, a video game from the 1980s, and an anime show. This is a fun one.
On the other hand, in “The Tip of the Zoidberg” we’re reminded that Zoidberg’s main characteristics — his ineptitude at medicine, and his poverty — are really not funny.
Guest voices include Buzz Aldrin, Katee Sackhoff, and Matt Groening.
I previously reviewed Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder.
The seasons are being counted differently by different people. Wikipedia and IMDb are different — I’m going with Wikipedia on this one.
