TV shows that remained consistent
All of these shows had more than one season, and they’re either 4.5 or 5/5.
Angel
- Some spinoffs struggle to be as good as their parent show, but this one used the fact that it was a spinoff to its full advantage — taking place in the same universe as Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Arrested Development
- This unique show is screamingly funny. The Bluth family is not like any other. Buster is my favourite character.
Battlestar Galactica
- Things go from bad to worse, but the characters and events are so fascinating that you can’t help but tune in to see what happens.
The Big Bang Theory
- A hilarious show, following the unique character of Sheldon Cooper and his friends.
Boston Legal
- Following the members of a law firm, it showed cases that were worth thinking about and also antics that you won’t believe. William Shatner and James Spader are remarkable.
Castle
- A police detective and a mystery novelist team up to solve crimes — they like each other, and eventually become a couple. The show has interesting cases and witty dialogue.
Dollhouse
- This was a unique show with some great episodes and a couple of brilliant ones. It could have been even better — surely the next time Joss Whedon has a TV show the network will let him do whatever he wants.
Elementary
- This take on Sherlock Holmes will grab you right away and entice you to keep coming back for more intriguing episodes. Watson is a woman who helps Holmes with his addiction and later helps him solve crimes.
Heroes
- What if some people suddenly developed superhero powers? Some of them would use their powers for good, and others not so much.
Jeremiah
- As post-apocalyptic shows go, this is one of the best. All of the adults die and the kids grow up to inherit the earth. From J. Michael Straczynski.
Modern Family
- The antics of three families who are all related. Of all the funny characters, Phil is the funniest.
Pushing Daisies
- What if you could bring dead people back to life with the touch of your finger? What if you could bring the woman you love back to life but then you could never touch her again?
Stargate Universe
- As in Battlestar Galactica the situation is fairly dire. But it’s also interesting enough to keep you watching for two seasons.
