The Missing

{4.5/5} “There’s an Apache story about a man that woke up one morning and saw a hawk on the wind. Walked outside and never returned. After he died he met his wife in the spirit world. She asked him why he never came home, he said ‘Well, the hawk kept flying.’

The Missing, released in 2003

In the old west Maggie is a healer. Her father shows up after she hasn’t seen him in years, and she doesn’t want to see him. Then her older child is kidnapped by Indians — she heads out with her father and her younger daughter to mount a rescue. I don’t watch a lot of westerns but this one is interesting and worth watching. Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones star. Directed by Ron Howard (Apollo 13).
