Mr. Peabody & Sherman

{4/5} “Uh, yeah, and don’t even get me started about Oedipus. Let’s just say you do not want to be at his house over the holidays. It’s awkward.”

Mr. Peabody & Sherman, released in 2014

Mr. Peabody is a dog who talks, adopts a boy named Sherman, and invents a time machine. Mr. Peabody and Sherman, along with Sherman’s classmate Penny, have some adventures in time. Periods they visit include Ancient Egypt, the Trojan War, and the French Revolution. The story wasn’t great — problems are solved too easily — but there were some very clever parts. Ty Burrell and Ariel Winter provide voices.

Directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King).
