Batman: The Dark Knight Returns

{4.5/5} “You don’t get it, son. This isn’t a mud hole. It’s an operating table. And I’m the surgeon.”

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, released in 2 parts in 2012 & 2013

This is an animated movie, based on the amazing graphic novel by Frank Miller. Bruce Wayne is old, and Batman is retired. But a new gang of wildly dangerous criminals called the mutants brings him out of retirement. A young woman named Carrie puts on a Robin suit and decides to help him. As usual some people cheer for Batman and some people revile him. Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, Harvey Dent, the Joker, and Superman all show up. If you like Batman, you’ll love this movie. It follows the graphic novel pretty closely. Peter Weller and Ariel Winter provide voices.

This is one of the top 3 Batman movies, live action or animated.

I’ve read the graphic novel a couple of times — I might have given this movie 5/5 if I didn’t know what was going to happen.
