Star Trek: Heart of the Sun

{3.5/5} Star Trek: Heart of the Sun by Pamela Sargent & George Zebrowski, published in 1997

The Enterprise has been travelling to a few far flung planets whose databases fell victim to a virus. The last on the list, Tyrtaeus, proves to be a bit of a chore — the people aren’t particularly welcoming to Kirk and his crew. When a giant object is discovered in the system heading for the sun the Tyrtaeans demand to have representatives on board the Enterprise to investigate it. This novel isn’t bad, just mediocre. Sometimes when the characters speak they don’t sound like themselves. The aliens that are introduced are an interesting concept but it doesn’t go anywhere.
