In the Valley of Elah

{4.5/5} “‘But didn’t you just say that you would do whatever you were told?’ ‘Yeah, I sometimes exaggerate for effect.'”

In the Valley of Elah, released in 2007

Hank receives word that his son Mike has gone AWOL from the army days after getting back from Iraq. He knows that Mike wouldn’t do that without a good reason, so he goes looking for him. He soon finds out that Mike has been murdered. Hank, a former member of the military police, connects with a police officer named Emily and they will do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of the murder.

Tommy Lee Jones is always worth watching. This is a serious story that’s worth a look.

It’s about the horror of what can happen to a person in war. It’s based on a true story.

The title comes from the story of David and Goliath — the valley of Elah is where they fought.

Stars Tommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron, and Susan Sarandon. Directed by Paul Haggis (The Next Three Days).
