The Garden of Words

{4.5/5} “We’re human, after all. We’ve all got our little quirks.”

The Garden of Words, released in 2013

Akizuki is a high school student who dreams of becoming a shoemaker. He likes to sit in the park when it’s raining, which is where he meets Yukino. She’s a mysterious young woman who eats chocolate and drinks beer. The two of them start seeing each other whenever it rains, and they both want it to rain.

This is a Japanese animated movie — it’s very short, only 45 minutes. The animation is gorgeous.

It’s about finding someone to connect with and talk to.

Directed by Makoto Shinkai (Journey to Agartha). The soundtrack mostly consists of lovely piano music.
