Garfunkel and Oates (season 1)

{5/5} “You know, I’m not really good at saying no when I don’t want to do something. That’s usually Riki’s job so, um, yeah, totally!”

Garfunkel and Oates season 1, aired in 2014

Kate and Riki do a corporate gig, but it turns out the person who hired them is quitting. Riki tries dating a standup comedian. Kate goes to an audition and finds herself doing a scene with Ben Kingsley. When they go on a double blind date they do an experiment — they try to see how long they can go without saying a word.

Garfunkel and Oates is a band and it was also briefly a TV show — unfortunately there are only 8 episodes.

Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome are essentially playing themselves, and they manage to get into a bunch of amusing and awkward situations. They also sing some of their hilarious songs, like “Sports Go Sports” and “Happy Birthday to My Loose Acquaintance.”

There are some terrific guest stars like Weird Al Yankovic and Kevin Pollak.

Created by Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci (writers on Garfunkel and Oates: Trying to Be Special).
