The beginning of the end of Trump

Finally, it’s happening. Surely the trials of Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen will eventually have some effect on Donald Trump — specifically, being removed from the White House and placed in jail.

Here’s a column from Richard Wolffe from the Guardian, in which there is this pair of beautiful sentences: “To lose one of your inner circle to criminal charges may be regarded as a misfortune. To lose two on the same day looks like carelessness.” He also points out that Trump could hypothetically have continued to commit crimes without punishment if he hadn’t invited extra scrutiny by becoming president.

Donald Trump’s reckoning has arrived

A conservative who years ago demanded Bill Clinton’s impeachment, Bret Stephens, argues that the standard has been met for Donald Trump to be impeached. Anything else would be inconsistent and hypocritical. He compares what Trump has done to Nixon and Clinton. Here’s his column in the New York Times:

Donald Trump’s High Crimes and Misdemeanors

Lawrence Douglas and Alexander George in the Guardian have a bit of fun with Trump’s line that he could kill someone on 5th avenue without losing voters. The column is kind of funny and kind of sad, but it is clever. All of the people on this list should be humiliated every day for the rest of their lives — supporting Trump is unforgivable.

If Trump shot Michael Cohen in broad daylight, here’s what Republicans would say

The biggest lie of all: Trump said he received $1 million from his father and he really received at least $413 million…
