DaCapo Choir’s “White Lights in Darkness”

I attended DaCapo Chamber Choir’s concert “White Lights in Darkness.”

Here’s the program:

  • Hear My Prayer — Leonard Enns
  • Amen — Henryk Gorecki
  • White Lights in Darkness — Lavinia Kell Parker
  • At Sunset — Jeff Enns+
  • My Song — Ivo Antognini
  • In Sweet Music — David Archer
  • Hymn to St. Cecilia — Benjamin Britten
  • “Gloria” from Missa Pax — Timothy Corlis*
  • Night on a Starry Hill — Matthew Emery

Catherine Robertson played the piano for one piece (*), and Jenny Enns Modolo sang the solo for one piece (+).

Of the pieces I knew, the Gorecki and the Britten were stunning. Of the pieces I didn’t know, the Jeff Enns and the Corlis stood out.

The choir is directed by Leonard Enns. Enns says in the program: “This year our focus is resettlement, on hope for a new life, while still acknowledging that grief and pain may continue to ache in the belly of the refugee.”

This is the choir’s 20th season, and they’ve just released their 3rd CD entitled NewWorks.

I previously discussed their concert “This Thirsty Land.”
