Kim’s Convenience (season 1)

{4.5/5} “‘Every day, Appa is looking out the window. You know what he looking for?’ ‘Illegally parked Japanese cars?'”

Kim’s Convenience season 1, aired in 2016

Mr. and Mrs. Kim came from Korea years ago and they own a convenience store in Toronto. Mrs. Kim sometimes volunteers at their church. Their son Sung was kicked out of the house a few years ago and works at a car rental place. Their daughter Janet lives at home and studies at an art school.

This is a funny show — Lee as Mr. Kim is particularly amusing.

It’s about family and neighbours.

The theme music is delightful.

Stars Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Jean Yoon. Created by Ins Choi (it’s based on his play) and Kevin White (writer on Corner Gas).
