Stranger Things (season 3)

{5/5} “You can’t spell America without Erica.” — Lucas’s sister Erica

Stranger Things season 3, aired in 2019

Joyce and Hopper are on the trail of a theoretical building that caused magnets to demagnetize. Mike, Will, Lucas, Max, and El are on the trail of the mind flayer, which has taken over Max’s brother Billy. Dustin, Steve, and their new friend Robin are on the trail of Russians who are communicating in code and doing something shady at the mall. Nancy and Jonathan, interns at the local paper, are on the trail of rats who are eating chemicals. It’s just a regular summer in Hawkins, Indiana.

I was very excited to see these friends again. Although the situation is serious, there are lots of fun parts.

The kids are going through the usual sorts of things that teenagers deal with, plus they have a gruesome monster invading their town.

In episode 6 Joyce’s tirades against Hopper’s Russian friend and the guy on the phone are classic. This shows you why Joyce is my favourite character.

It’s a bit intense — you might start biting your nails. It builds to a dramatic conclusion.

Cary Elwes guest stars as the mayor.

Stars David Harbour, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton.

I previously reviewed season 2.
