The Willoughbys

{4.5/5} “I love the smell of fresh yarn in the morning.”

The Willoughbys, released in 2020

The Willoughbys have a proud family history but the current family to hold the name has a problem. The parents, although wildly in love with each other, don’t really care for their children. So Tim, Jane, and the twins — Barnaby and Barnaby — hatch a plan to get rid of their parents by sending them on a vacation. But they don’t count on one thing — their parents hire a nanny.

With a hint of The Addams Family, the premise and characters are delightfully odd.

Don’t expect scientific accuracy, but do expect lots of fun.

Stars the voices of Martin Short, Jane Krakowski, Maya Rudolph, and Ricky Gervais. Directed by Kris Pearn (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2), Cory Evans (storyboard artist on Norm of the North), and Rob Lodermeier (senior animator on Escape from Planet Earth). The quirky music is by Mark Mothersbaugh.
