Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

{4.5/5} “I don’t know why the sacrifice didn’t work. The science seemed so solid.”

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, released in 2008

The penguins slingshot the plane on Madagascar and Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman make it to Africa. Alex finds his parents and the others find animals of their own species. When Alex finds out he has to go through a rite of passage to stay in the tribe, it doesn’t exactly go as planned.

It’s not as iconic as the 1st movie in the series, but it’s a fun story with characters you love. The penguins and King Julien are still hilarious.

With references to things like Planet of the Apes and West Side Story, it will keep a smile on your face.

Stars the voices of Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, and Alec Baldwin. Directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath (co-directors of Madagascar). The music is by Heitor Pereira and Hans Zimmer.
