The Tomorrow War
{4.5/5} “They have no use for prisoners or government, technology, money… nothing. We are food. And they are hungry.”
The Tomorrow War, released in 2021
In the middle of a soccer game, soldiers from 30 years in the future appear and ask for everyone’s help. They ask for people to join them and go to the future to fight aliens — otherwise, all of humanity will be wiped out. After many soldiers don’t make it home, a worldwide draft is instituted. Dan, who used to be a soldier and now teaches high school science, is drafted. When he gets to the future, he’s put in charge of a rescue mission.
It’s about knowing when it’s time to use science to solve a problem and when it’s time to use bullets, and meeting your daughter who’s decades older than the last time you saw her.
It’s exciting — it would have been intense to see on the big screen.
Stars Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, and J.K. Simmons. Directed by Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie). The mysterious and majestic music is by Lorne Balfe.
