Finch
{5/5} “I know you were born yesterday, but it’s time to grow up.”
Finch, released in 2021
After the apocalypse Finch goes out looking for things that are useful to him — or his dog. He’s marked all the buildings that he’s checked so far, which is a lot. He wears a protective suit and drives a reinforced dump truck, and has his trusty robot by his side. He’s worried about exposure to radiation, but he’s running out of food. And he has to be careful about the giant sandstorms.
The situation is serious, but there’s lots of brand-new-robot humour.
I like the scene where they’re popping popcorn outside just by shaking them out of the box.
It’s about knowing you’re dying and preparing someone to take care of your beloved pet for when it happens. It’s about being afraid that any other human you come in contact with will do you harm.
Even the dog is a good actor.
Stars Tom Hanks and the voice of Caleb Landry Jones. Directed by Miguel Sapochnik (Repo Men). The music is by Gustavo Santaolalla.
