Ontario voters need to vote strategically
Most people in Ontario don’t want Doug Ford to be premier again (CBC News says he has 36% whereas the combination of Liberal, NDP, Green, and Other has 64%). And rightly so — he will do very horrible things. But because of how our election system works (first past the post) he is likely to be re-elected as premier. We therefore must vote strategically. We should all agree to vote Liberal this time (I picked them because they’re ahead 27% vs NDP’s 24%) and then vote NDP next time.
The other kind of voting that’s usually known as “strategic voting” where you do it on a more granular level might work but it seems somewhat uncertain. Here’s an article about it from CTV News, where some experts call into question the viability of the strategy:
