Jane the Virgin (season 1)
{5/5} “In fact, we’re not going to refer to it as a baby. We’re going to call it something else. We are going to call it… a milkshake.”
Jane the Virgin season 1, aired in 2014-15
Jane works at a hotel, where she does such dignified things as wear a mermaid costume while pouring drinks at a party. Jane has been dating Michael for 2 years and is happy — they just shared their calendars. She discovers that the new owner of the hotel is Rafael, who she used to have a crush on. When she is inseminated at a clinic by mistake, with Rafael’s sperm, she decides to keep the baby to give to him and his wife Petra. The doctor who inseminated Jane is Luisa, Rafael’s sister.
If you want to get the feeling back that you had when you first watched Modern Family or The Big Bang Theory, all you have to do is watch this show — it’s hilarious.
My favourite character is Rogelio, a telenovela star who’s always thinking about his looks — even when he’s meeting his 23-year-old daughter he just found out about.
The narrator, who is very funny, is Anthony Mendez.
Guest stars include Priscilla Barnes, Judy Reyes, Jane Seymour, Rita Moreno, and Nia Vardalos. Jenna Ortega plays young Jane.
Stars Gina Rodriguez, Andrea Navedo, and Yael Grobglas.
Created by Jennie Snyder Urman (Emily Owens M.D.).

So glad you liked it, Dave! I look back on this series fondly and can’t wait to re-watch it. I loved the writing and the characters, even when over-the-top.

When I watched the first few episodes with you, I knew that I would watch it all someday.
