Miss Sherlock (season 1)
{4.5/5} “Eliminate the impossible, and you’re left with the unlikely truth.”
Miss Sherlock season 1, aired in 2018
Sherlock is a consulting detective for the Tokyo police department. She can tell things about a person just by looking at them, puts pieces together in a way that no one else does, and is fairly rude. Wato was trained as a doctor and is returning from volunteering in Syria where she discovered she will not be a doctor after all. She finds herself following Sherlock around after her friend who picks her up at the airport dies in front of her. Wato later finds out she has no place to live and decides to move in with Sherlock.
There are 8 episodes of this Japanese show. Each episode is delightful.
Yuko Takeuchi’s physicality as Sherlock is terrific, how she looks askance at things and invades people’s personal space.
I like how Sherlock sleeps at Wato’s side when she’s hurt, showing that she does care about her.
The ending will leave you with 1 or 2 questions, but it’s worth watching.
Stars Yuko Takeuchi and Shihori Kanjiya.
Ken’ichirĂ´ Suehiro’s music is sometimes reminiscent of that from the Sherlock TV show.
There was no season 2.
