The Batman
{4.5/5} “They think I’m hiding in the shadows. But I am the shadows.”
The Batman, released in 2022
Bruce Wayne isn’t interested in running Wayne Enterprises — he’s busy being the Batman. Only one person at the Gotham police force works with him, James Gordon. When the mayor is killed, the killer leaves a note for the Batman — a riddle. He meets Selina Kyle at the Penguin’s and they decide to work together to track down her friend who’s disappeared. But the Riddler is implicating a lot of important people in a big crime.
I haven’t seen much of Robert Pattinson but he does a fine job as Batman. Colin Farrell is unrecognizable as the Penguin.
I like the way when Batman walks towards someone he’s going to fight with you can hear his heavy boots.
I didn’t care for the way Bruce allowed his hair to hang down in front of his eyes in some scenes. They may have been trying to show that his work is more important than his hair, but it looks silly.
Although it has familiar elements, they’re put together in a fresh way.
Stars Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, ZoĆ« Kravitz, and Paul Dano. Directed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes). Michael Giacchino’s Batman theme is simple but effective.
