Leave No Trace

{5/5} “‘Everything’s different now.’ ‘We can still think our own thoughts.'”

Leave No Trace, released in 2018

Will and his daughter Tom live in a forest near Portland. They go into town once in a while for supplies — other than that, they live in a tent and keep to themselves. They are doing all right. But then one day the police come along and find them. Will is taken away, and Tom wants to go with him but they ask her a bunch of questions.

It’s about people who don’t follow the rules, and people who try to help them. It’s about what happens when you realize a loved one has terribly tragic PTSD.

It’s a beautiful movie with no bad guys.

Stars Thomasin McKenzie and Ben Foster. Directed by Debra Granik (Winter’s Bone).
