Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap is doing well as a play and they decide to make it into a movie. The director, Leo, is killed and Inspector Stoppard and Constable Stalker are on the case. All of the people who are in the play, who were having a party, are suspects. The writer, Mervyn, was seen having an argument with Leo in his hotel room.
This movie is hilarious from the moment Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan start talking to each other.
It’s about a victim who everyone hated. It’s about trying not to jump to conclusions.
Agatha Christie and Richard Attenborough are minor characters.
Split screen is used to good effect, like in that one X-Files episode.
The tone is sublime.
