Ready or Not

{5/5} “Don’t you think great grandfather would have used the security cameras if he had them? I mean, it’s not tradition that he was born before cameras.”

Ready or Not, released in 2019

On Grace and Alex’s wedding night, Alex’s family reveals that they’re going to play a game. It’s called “Hide and Seek” but Grace is the person who’s hiding and everyone else in the family is looking for her — and they will kill her when they find her. It turns out that ancestors of this particular family made a deal with the devil and they are required to make a sacrifice — otherwise all the family members will die at dawn.

I turned my head once or twice due to gruesomeness, but other than that I liked it a lot.

It has no-holds-barred characters, and a delightful sense of humour.

Stars Samara Weaving, Andie MacDowell, Kristian Bruun, and Elyse Levesque. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (co-directors of Scream). The mysterious music is by Brian Tyler.
