Back to the Future Part II
{5/5} “Why don’t you make like a tree and get out of here?”
Back to the Future Part II, released in 1989
When Doc Brown and Marty McFly get to the future, Doc tells him that they have to prevent his son from going to jail. Marty dresses up like his son and goes to the Cafe 80s to say no to Griff. Griff happens to be Biff’s grandson. Marty buys a sports almanac in order to make money betting when he goes back to the past, but Doc refuses to let him keep it.
Although we didn’t get them by 2015, the flying cars and hoverboards of the future in the movie are delightful.
This movie revisits the events of the previous movie in a way that is brilliant and has never been matched.
There are also several instances of actors acting with themselves, which was amazing in 1989 — and is still very nice.
This movie and its sequel were filmed back to back.
One more quotation: “The encounter could create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that’s a worst case scenario.”
Elijah Wood, as a kid, has a small part. Joe Flaherty also has a fun part.
Stars Elisabeth Shue, James Tolkan, and Jeffrey Weissman. Directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future). Alan Silvestri expands on his thrilling soundtrack from the 1st movie.
This is the 4th or 5th time I’ve seen it.
