Dead Again
{4.5/5} “‘This is exactly what happened with Roman and Margaret.’ ‘I’m not Roman.'”
Dead Again, released in 1991
Mike Church finds missing people. He’s trying to help a woman who doesn’t talk, when a hypnotist helps her talk again. She doesn’t remember who she is, but under hypnosis she thought she was a pianist named Margaret in 1949 who married a composer named Roman. The hypnotist happens to know who Margaret and Roman are — Roman famously killed his wife Margaret.
It might not wow you quite as much when you know what’s going to happen, but it’s still a great movie.
Things are kicked up a notch in the second half. There’s some fine tension regarding who wants to kill who.
It’s about what happens when you seem destined to relive events from a past life.
Stars Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Andy Garcia, Robin Williams, and Wayne Knight. Directed by Kenneth Branagh (Murder on the Orient Express). The mysterious music is by Patrick Doyle.
This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve seen it.
