DS9: Lust’s Latinum Lost (and Found)
{4.5/5} “Children and adults alike are happiest when the moisture falls in a warm and steady wave. So are the clado, in fact. That’s when their song reaches its most soothing tones, prompting Ferengi spirits — and, more important, Ferengi portfolios — to rise precipitously.”
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Lust’s Latinum Lost (and Found) by Paula M. Block and Terry J. Erdmann, published in 2014
When Quark’s old friend Rionoj shows up on Deep Space Nine, she has a new holosuite program to sell him. He finds that it’s a simulation of Ferenginar, with a river of latinum — but it’s just a sample. He wants to buy the entire program from her, but she leaves the station. So he tracks down who he thinks is the publisher — they’re on Wrigley’s Pleasure Planet. He rents a shuttle from Wormhole Rent-a-Shuttle.
This is a short story released only as an ebook.
It’s a fun adventure with Quark and his new apprentice. The other characters on the station make appearances.
It’s partially a sequel to the episode “Rules of Acquisition.”
This is the first fiction book I’ve read by Block and Erdmann. They are authors of several nonfiction books including The Secrets of Star Trek: Insurrection.
