The Addams Family

{4.5/5} “‘Wednesday can take care of herself.’ ‘It’s not Wednesday I’m worried about, it’s all the others. We may have to provide an alibi.'”

The Addams Family, released in 2019

The Addams family left their old country years ago because their neighbours chased them away with pitchforks. Now they live in New Jersey, on a hill surrounded by fog. But the fog has lifted after 13 years because someone has drained the nearby marsh. A woman who remodels homes in bright colours now wants to remodel the Addams mansion. The entire Addams clan is coming to visit for Pugley’s traditional saber mazurka demonstration.

This animated movie successfully reproduces the delightful Addams Family tone.

I like how Lurch plays tunes on the organ that are appropriate to the moment.

It’s about accepting people who are different from you. The storyline with the townspeople is a bit unsubtle, but since some people still haven’t learned this perhaps it’s needed.

Stars the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, and Allison Janney. Directed by Greg Tiernan (Thomas & Friends) and Conrad Vernon (Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted).
