Uncle Buck

{5/5} “What’s your record for consecutive questions asked?”

Uncle Buck, released in 1989

Cindy’s father had a heart attack so she and her husband Bob are going back home. They had trouble finding someone to look after their kids, so they asked Bob’s brother Buck. They were reluctant to ask him, since he doesn’t know anything about kids and has a sketchy lifestyle. Tia and Buck butt heads, but the younger kids like him.

No one could play Buck like John Candy — he’s very funny.

I like how he makes giant pancakes for Miles’s birthday.

It’s about how someone who doesn’t know you very well can still help you out, whether you want that help or not.

Stars Jean Louisa Kelly, Macaulay Culkin, Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Madigan, and Laurie Metcalf. Directed by John Hughes (Planes, Trains & Automobiles). The jazzy music is by Ira Newborn.

This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve seen it.
