Shrek Forever After

{4.5/5} “This is the part where you run away.”

Shrek Forever After, released in 2010

Years ago the king and queen were about to make a deal with Rumpelstiltskin when Fiona was rescued by Shrek. Shrek and Fiona are raising three kids, and Shrek misses the days when he scared people away. He expresses that thought and Rumpelstiltskin hears him, so he offers him a deal. Shrek takes the deal — spend a day as a menacing ogre, and Rumpelstiltskin will take one of the days of his childhood.

This is the Back to the Future Part II of the series, where we get to see an alternate timeline where Shrek didn’t rescue Fiona.

I like how, even though they’ve never met Shrek in the alternate timeline, Donkey is quick to make friends, Puss in Boots is ready for adventure even though he’s fat, and Fiona is ready to battle any who stand against her.

Stars the voices of Jon Hamm and Jane Lynch. Directed by Mike Mitchell (Sky High). The music is, once again, by Harry Gregson-Williams.
