Shrek
{5/5} “Some of you may die, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.” — Lord Farquad
Shrek, released in 2001
When a talking donkey runs away from people who are rounding up fairy creatures, he runs into an ogre named Shrek. Shrek scares away the men who come with pitchforks to capture them. The donkey wants to stay with Shrek. Shrek is a loner, though, and Donkey is a bit talkative for his taste. When a bunch of fairy creatures move into his swamp, Shrek goes to see the person who sent them there — Lord Farquad.
Even if every joke isn’t funny, this movie is still hilarious.
I like the scene with Robin Hood and his Merry Men, and how Fiona interrupts their song.
It’s about how you can become fond of someone who’s very different from you.
Stars the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow. Directed by Andrew Adamson (Mr. Pip) and Vicky Jenson (Shark Tale).
The music by Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell is superb. The soundtrack features catchy songs like “I’m a Believer.”
This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve seen it.
