The Pod Generation

{4.5/5} “At Pegazus, we want fulfilled mothers. We want them to pursue their careers and dreams. So let us do the heavy lifting while you enjoy your babies.”

The Pod Generation, released in 2023

Rachel wants to have a baby but doesn’t want to get pregnant. She is doing well at work and gets an opportunity at the Womb Center — she would be able to have her baby in an artificial womb, or pod. But she hasn’t told her husband Alvy about the opportunity even though it’s days away. He has a strong belief that nature is important, and she doesn’t think he’ll appreciate this artificial solution.

This future has a great look to it.

It’s a nice science fictional premise, and there are some funny moments.

It’s about what happens when you have an AI to help you with everything, even therapy. It’s about doing things naturally vs. doing things artificially.

Stars Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Directed by Sophie Barthes (Cold Souls). The playful music is by Evgueni Galperine and Sacha Galperine.
