Warbreaker

{5/5} “The Breaths were wonderful. It was more than just the beauty or the ability to hear changes in sound and sense intrinsically the distinct hues of color. It was more even that the ability to sense life around her. More than the sounds of the wind and the tones of people talking, or her ability to feel her way through a group of people and move easily with the motions of a crowd. It was a connection.”

Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson, published in 2009

The time has come for Dedelin to send his daughter to Hallandren to marry the God King, according to the treaty. Vivenna has been preparing her whole life for this task, but instead he sends Siri. Both Siri and Vivenna are upset about this. Dedelin hopes to postpone war, but he knows that war is coming.

This novel has brilliant characters and a unique system of magic.

It’s about a place where people who come back from the dead are treated as gods. It’s about figuring out what’s true and what’s not, friendship, and sacrifice.

This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Sanderson. I previously reviewed Elantris.
