Ahsoka (season 1)

{4/5} “I have known many Padawans. Your aptitude for the Force would fall short of them all.”

Ahsoka season 1, aired in 2023

Ahsoka retrieves a map that shows the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn, and barely gets away before some droids self destruct. Morgan, who Ahsoka captured with Din Djarin’s help, has been broken out of the brig by two people who have Jedi-like powers. Ahsoka thinks the map needs some sort of key, and she brings it to her former apprentice, Sabine.

This Star Wars show brings to the forefront the character of Ahsoka Tano, who we first saw (in live action) in The Mandalorian.

There’s lots to like, including the visuals, some nice action scenes, and a bit of humour. I like the character of Ahsoka, who’s always calm.

But the story didn’t quite grab me as much as I wanted it to. There were a few things that didn’t make quite enough sense, like the space whales.* It is telling part of a larger story.

The music by by Kevin Kiner contains hints of John Williams.

Guest stars include Clancy Brown, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Genevieve O’Reilly, Anthony Daniels, and Hayden Christensen.

Stars Rosario Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Ray Stevenson.

Created by Dave Filoni (writer and director on The Mandalorian).

Spoiler alert

*Ahsoka gets inside a space whale even though she has no real reason to expect it will take her where she wants to go.
