Damsel

{4/5} “For generations it has been our task, our duty, to protect our people. The price is dear, but so too the reward.”

Damsel, released in 2024

Elodie’s kingdom has fallen on hard times and her father has made a deal which relies on her marrying a prince she’s never met. When they arrive at Aurea they see a very wealthy kingdom. Elodie hopes the prince will be kind and well-read. When she meets Henry he seems nice but he and everyone else there are hiding a terrible secret.

Millie Bobby Brown is watchable as always, but the story wasn’t quite as interesting as I wanted it to be.

It’s about what sacrifice a king will make for his kingdom. It’s about using all the resources available to you.

Stars Ray Winstone, Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, and the voice of Shohreh Aghdashloo. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later). The music is by David Fleming.
