Star Trek: The Rings of Time

{4.5/5} “You know how the brass is frowning on time travel these days. They don’t want to risk changing history, not after some of the close calls we’ve had in the last few years. We’ll probably have some explaining to do to that new temporal investigation agency when we get back.”

Star Trek: The Rings of Time by Greg Cox, published in 2012

Captain Kirk and the Enterprise head to Klondike VI because the governor reported the planet’s rings are destabilizing. Not only is the colony being bombarded with material from the rings, but there is a comet heading straight for them.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, Colonel Shaun Christopher flew the first crewed ship to Saturn. There they discovered that the rings are unexpectedly collapsing inward.

It’s another time travel adventure for history’s most frequent time traveller, James T. Kirk.

Both storylines are lots of fun.

This is the 15th book I’ve read by Cox. I previously reviewed Star Trek: A Contest of Principles. He also has stories in anthologies like Star Trek: “The Mission” and Other Stories.
