Veronica Mars (season 1)

{4.5/5} “I nailed our bail jumper one hundred yards from Mexico… Twenty five hundred bucks. No sack dinners tonight. Tonight we eat like the lower middle class to which we aspire.”

Veronica Mars season 1, aired in 2004-5

Veronica goes to school during the day and helps her father out in the evening with his private investigation business. He used to be the sheriff but when Lilly, Veronica’s best friend, was killed he thought the father did it. Apparently he was wrong, and both he and his daughter are now shunned by some of the town — including Lilly’s brother who used to be Veronica’s boyfriend. But she still has some friends in high places.

Each episode has its own story, plus there’s an ongoing story about Lilly’s murder. It builds to a dramatic conclusion in the season finale.

There are certainly aspects of the show that stretch credibility, but Veronica is a terrific character and she works on interesting cases.

Guest stars include Jane Lynch, Adam Scott, Max Greenfield, and Alyson Hannigan.

Amanda Seyfried has a surprisingly large part as Lilly, who is seen in many flashbacks.

Stars Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni, and Percy Daggs III.

Created by Rob Thomas (iZombie).
