Young Sheldon (season 1)

{5/5} “It was at that moment I decided I was not cut out for teaching. I consoled myself with the knowledge that I was wonderful at everything else.”

Young Sheldon season 1, aired in 2017-18

Sheldon Cooper is 9 years old but he’s already going to high school. The first thing he does in class is point out which students are wearing things that violate the grooming code. When Sheldon makes a new friend, Tam, they do some rocketry in the garage. Meemaw teaches Sheldon about bluffing. When Sheldon almost dies choking on a sausage, he’s not sure he will ever be able to eat solid food again.

This is a spinoff of The Big Bang Theory. Jim Parsons provides continuity with that show by acting as narrator.

It’s hilarious.

The best behind-the-scenes tidbit is that Zoe Perry, who plays Mary Cooper in this show, is the real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who played Mary in The Big Bang Theory.

They found a startling brilliant young actor to play Sheldon — Iain Armitage.

Guest stars include Bob Newhart, Jason Alexander, and Richard Kind.

Stars Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, and Annie Potts.

Created by Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory) and Steven Molaro (writer on Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh).
